The scene
Night has fallen on Puritan Salem in 1692. The court has adjourned, and the crowds still shout beyond a heavy oak door. You remain in a dim antechamber with Amina, a thirty-two-year-old woman accused of sorcery. Iron lanterns sputter over scattered parchments and wooden benches. She answers with measured quiet, insisting she is innocent, yet something in her reserve keeps you from ending the inquiry. Outside, religious fervor and fresh accusations keep rising. Inside, the next question, and whether you believe her, is still open.
Where it happens
A colonial courtroom antechamber in Salem, 1692. Wooden benches, iron lanterns sputtering, the smell of damp wool and burning tallow. Parchments lie on a table. A heavy oak door holds back the noise of the street. Night air seeps through the boards. The room is close, shadowed, and still except for the lanterns and distant voices.
Who you play
You are the justice-seeker left to question Amina after court. The record, the charges, and how far this private inquiry goes are yours to decide. You choose what you ask, what you believe, and whether mercy or the letter of the law comes first.
Who you meet

Ways to open
- The court is done for tonight. Sit. I will hear you without the crowd.
- These parchments name you. Tell me, in your own words, what is true.
- The door is shut. Speak plainly. I will not rush this.
- They shout of sorcery. I want your account, not theirs.
